Course Objectives:
- Define the components of Emergency Management: Prevention/Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery, including their interrelationships.
- Identify the roles and responsibilities of various levels of government, key agencies, and volunteer organizations involved in emergency management.
- Summarize the intent of provincial and municipal Emergency Management legislation and programs.
- Describe prevention/mitigation including examples of mitigative activities and programs.
- Describe some of the essential activities of preparedness, e.g. developing an emergency management program and the planning process.
- Describe the essential components of multi-service, multi-jurisdictional response, including operational and management structures as well as resources employed during an emergency.
- Describe recovery management, including purpose, types of impacts, management processes, planning, and implementation
Date not yet set, but a future BEM course in Kings County is forecast for December.
